On May 28, by midnight, the Nepali Constitution expired. Since early morning that day, the city was guarded by police with expectations of pretty much anything. Streaming in and out, cars of UN kept busy taking officials into the government building. Mild protests took place throughout the day but that turned out to be it... After hours of deliberation the result (that was announced shortly before the midnight deadline) was one paragraph stating extension of the constitution for one more year.
